An old, cranky Barn Owl who got up out of the wrong side of it's resting place. Reminds me of Eve, except she is not old, just cranky. It must be a moulting.

Enjoy!

:D  A beautiful bird!
Isn't it a bit too centered?

I know right? Barn Owls are so awesome.

And yes, it is very centered, which I hate. I just like the pose.

Well, I just wondered why don't you crop a bit... But the bird is magnificent. I don't know owls, but I think all of them are awesome.

Would you mind a little story?

I was about 13 or 14 and we had a cottage in the mountain where the next neighbour was 1/4 miles away, the next settlement was about 2 miles... It was on the edge of an oak forest and a big glade of grass and some bushes here and there and about end of September when the deers are rutting and boars take over the open fields, we had a full lunar eclipse. We took plaids to the field, and even a binoculars for watching the phenomenon, which totalled about 11 PM. It was a long eclipse, I mean lasted a good while, and there was rather cold, so as the moon was faded to bloody red, we took the things and returned back to the cottage. It was a short walk in the woods, and the forest was full of stranger-than-usual noises, and I and my 5 years younger brother were ... well... So we were frightened. I looked back, up to the dark red moon which slightly started to clear up, and at that very moment, a great eagle owl glided across in front of it. It frightened the living daylight out of me :D It was very close to us, about 6ft above, and very silent. Just a big winged shadow covering an out-of-this-world moon...

Few years ago here, where I now live, a tawny owl or screetch owl flew by me in the night (don't know which lives here, didn't see yet, but sometimes heard). I felt its whoosh of the air on my face, but didn't hear anything. I was astonished but even more amazed :)

That is awesome. I wish I could have seen it, if only you could have taken a photograph of it.

Yeah, owls are dead silent in flight, I have been smacked in the face by an incoming Great Grey Owl. My friend had to point out it was coming towards me.

Oh it was in the last millenium when ISO 400 film was an extremity and my camera haven't got any battery at all... Just imagine what could I do with that in the night :D
